I'm so very fortunate to have such lovely clients who make working feel like such an enjoyable experience, so I do feel blessed daily to be able to do what I love as a job.
I have worked on lots of logos and branding projects over the last year and seeing each of them come to life and be used in the 'real world' is still such an exciting process that I'm super proud to be part of.
So I wanted to show off my favourite 3 branding designs of 2017 and give these lovely folk a little bit more publicity too.
First off is The Meadow - I'd previously worked with Em & Nick on other projects thanks to my lovely hubby putting me in touch with them, but this time we were working on a new cafe brand for their exciting new venture in Pembrokeshire. I adore working with these guys as they are so passionate and full of ideas and are not scared to chase their dreams and make them into a reality.

Next up, is the wonderful Heritage Restaurant. I was asked to work on this project after my friend and fabulous illustrator Christine gave them my details. I've worked primarily with the lovely Antonia, and the team have worked so hard on their dream restaurant and it is almost complete. This has been such a great project and I am super excited to see everything up and running very soon!

Finally, I would like to show you the branding I created for a Mindfulness and Wellbeing Coach, Sharne. I was put in touch with Sharne through a group I'm part of run by the amazing Ruth. I spent a lot of time working closely with Sharne to design her branding and I got to know her well and am now a member of her fantastic online community too. She is an inspiration so I was glad to help her with the branding of her business.

So there you are - the best 3 design projects of 2017 - I've worked with lots of amazing small business owners and each project has been gratefully received. I'm also grateful to my friends and family who seem to spread the word of my work - I guess I owe you all a cake sometime! I'll be adding some more of my recent work to my portfolio soon but if you'd like to work with me on your branding or logo design for your small business or start up venture then please do get in touch - it's my most favourite job to do!
It's a whole new year and before I get back to it here at Dottypink, I like to reflect on the past year - it helps me to improve things, weed out things that no longer work or excite me, and plan new ideas and processes for this year ahead.
So what did 2017 entail for me and my business? Besides working with some fantastic clients again, creating and designing branding and logos, and helping small businesses to create and achieve their design hopes and dreams....
...I came back to work from my 2nd maternity leave. And it was super hard. I worked more and more evenings to enable me to look after my kids during the days, but this then exhausted me alongside the night wakings, and I battled another bout of anxiety and panic attacks too which really didn't help things. It was a hard slog and there were times when I just about clung on to get myself to the end of the year. The support and patience of my lovely clients was so amazing and I'm so grateful for them, and I'm pleased to say that I am so much better now, much more refreshed and armed with a lot more strategies to improve things for myself which will in turn improve my business offerings.
I've decided this year to be more open and honest which is why I hope to blog more, about real life business stuff and behind the scenes, as all too often, especially in self employment, you can forget that there's a real person behind the business, busting their butt, juggling life and trying to hold it all together. I'm pretty hard on myself so I hate the thought of dropping the ball, and when I look online at all the pretty instagram accounts and pinterest boards I can really put pressure on myself to run into the ground trying to put on the perfect show. But in truth, we are all just trying to do our best, whatever that may be, and that's ok, and the world needs us to be who we are and to be kind to ourselves and each other.
I came across some fantastic quotes on the very lovely From Lucy With Love Instagram account all about life and how we should be us no matter how messy and complicated we are sometimes! I love looking at her posts as they are so inspiring and real.
By far the BEST part of 2017 for my business was letting go of wedding stationery and focusing on branding and logo design with all my heart. And it was such a breath of fresh air. I have realised just how much I adore working with small businesses and start ups on their branding and logo designs and being a small part of their business hopes and dreams. I've made some fantastic friendships with my clients and I feel so proud to look at the work I've designed for them and know that it is out there in the world helping their business to stand out and shine! Moving forward in 2018 I want to offer more to my clients - better timeframe turnarounds to ensure things are always moving forward, more advice/research at the beginning stages, and to know I'm right by there side with the design side of things to get their business off the ground in the most aesthetically successful way possible.
Every client, every project this year has taught me something, made me strive for more, and challenged me to do better, and my love for graphic design just continues to grow. So thank you to everyone who has made this possible for another year. Here's to 2018!
(Pop back to my blog next week for my top 3 logo designs of 2017 and find out more about the clients behind them.)
This year marks the 10th year since I graduated uni with my design degree and went out into the world looking for design work! So it seems fitting that it should also be the year that I have a rebrand, and a refresh of the services I want to offer.
I've taken the difficult but right decision to step away from wedding stationery, maybe not forever, but definitely for the time being, as I want to focus on my main love of design, which is branding for small businesses and start ups. I'm so grateful to every bride and groom I've worked with and I am super proud to have been a stationery finalist in 3 awards over the years, but now's the time for me to focus on my graphic design as I really feel passionate about helping small business owners create the dream branding they want for their new venture. Every small business is important and I want to help them feel confident in their visual identity so they can be proud to compete in their field against bigger but not necessarily better businesses and unleash their niche!
So, as well as continuing logo and branding design, for which I have had and still have some fabulous clients that I am so grateful for, I will be offering a small consultancy service to help those who want to understand more about the branding process and how to move forward with their new business, or get themselves out of a visual rut and engage with new customers through cohesive branding design across online and offline platforms.
Phew - are you still with me?!
And, throughout the year, primarily at seasonal times, I will be hosting online pop up shops with various Dottypink offerings, some handmade, some limited prints and some items on sale, so make sure you keep popping back for more news on those!
Thank you to everyone who has and still does support Dottypink, as a client, customer, friend or family member - I am so grateful to be able to do what I love and I am excited to make these small changes and see where it takes me now...
Well I've had a lovely, exciting and tiring few months away from my business whilst I gave birth to another beautiful boy to add to our lovely little family. We've had a wonderful time getting to know him and adjusting to life as a family of 4 and I finally feel ready to start tackling work again too!
I'm excited to be back at my desk (although very part time at the moment) and I'm looking forward to working on some new design and stationery projects with some lovely clients. If you want that to be you then please don't hesitate to contact me as I'd love to hear about your new ventures and big days coming up!
There'll be some new items coming to my online shop later on this year and I'm working on a couple of new ideas too, in between baby snuggles and building towers.
Thank you for your patience and support - it's nice to be back!
Well it's been a while since I posted - can't believe it was Christmas!! A lot has happened in the past few months too! I've been working on lots of fab projects for lovely clients and customers, from logos and branding, to beautiful wedding stationery and a couple of websites in between!
It's been an exciting year so far, and the best news has to be that baby number 2 is on it's way for my hubby and I. So from today onwards I will be on maternity leave for the next few months whilst we get ready for, and enjoy our new addition when it arrives.
I adore graphic design, and I am so grateful to be able to do this for so many wonderful people, but my biggest love of all is my family and I absolutely love being a mummy to our gorgeous little boy and married to my fab hubby, and I can't wait to welcome this new bundle into our lives soon!
Thank you so much to everyone who has worked with me so far, and I will be back in a few months ready to work on some more awesome projects. In the meantime my hubby Joe will be on hand to answer emails, update my website and social media and other small business tasks so please check for updates and don't hesitate to get in touch if we can be of any help.
